For my dad, who is the best he knows how to be.

I was prompted to use one of my favorite quotes in a poem. I don't know where I heard "there's more to life than breathing" so if it is well-known, lemme know and I'll give credit. Thx.

For #theWrittenRevolution - I'm not sure that the transitions between the different parts of the poem are smooth enough, and the second part still feels like it could be communicated better to my audience, so interpretations about that part would be most appreciated. :)

by white moonlight.

"be better than me.'
was perfectly delivered and very touching. Wow.
Thank you for writing this.

I like this ... the ending is the best part ... and the whales.

peace,

left the stars.

they keep twinkling
like death is a myth
too.

This reminded me of how what we see in the night sky are really remnants of light that might have been given off millions or more years ago, how the stars seem eternal, but by the time we see them they could have already been extinguished. I like how that section captures the essence of the immortal/temporal.

And the strophes in section v regarding the whale are absolutely beautiful.

That's kind of what I was thinking about for that section. I know it feels a little out of place with the rest of the poem, but I'm working on ways to make it feel like it belongs there.

I was thinking about how everything we think we know can sometimes be totally wrong. For ages people thought the earth was flat, and the sun spun around us. When I was a child, and learned that stars sometimes die before we even see their light, it made me incredibly sad for reasons I couldn't explain just then. I'm working on it now :)
