Thunder + Magical Muse Features

Sun Jul 12, 2009, 7:59 AM
This is one reason I love my state. Yesterday it was a scorching 85 degrees out there. My little sister and I took a swim and sat by the pool tanning and checking out the cute guys that showed up later.

It's about 60 degrees now and there's a near constant rumble of thunder. The last bout shook the walls a little bit. When I was little, I'd sit on the front porch of my house, which overlooked the bay, and watch the thunder storms over the water. There's nothing more astounding than seeing lightning strike the water.

My dad used to say thunder was God laughing. I don't much believe in God anymore, but the idea is still a nice one. I've loved storms, and especially Washington's storms, since he told me that.

And now that the nostalgia is out of my system, some promised features for =Scarlettletters Magical Muse Contest:

Lyric of the Day

Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
And I'll always remember you as a child, girl

-Wild World by Cat Stevens-

That one has a special place. Dad sang it for me the day I moved out....yeah, we cried a little.

Meme of the Moment

List ten random facts about yourself:

1. I am a whopping 6 foot 3 inches tall.

2. I did not play basketball in high school.

3. I have fourty two nicknames, the most inspired of which is "Mama Long Legs".

4. I love writing letters. They're better than face-to-face conversation sometimes.

5. The first movie I saw in theaters (that I can remember) was The Lion King. Still one of my favorite films to this day.

6. I'm no exercise nut, but I do hatha yoga twice a day.

7. My favorite color is purple.

8. I room with my younger sister who is going to the same college as me.

9. I want to visit Ireland as much of my ancestry is from there.

10. There's a myth in my family that one of my great^infinity grandmother's sailed to the America's on the Mayflower as a stow-away. It probably isn't true, but it makes for a great campfire story since the legend is that she was running from witch hunters.

Quote of the Day

Suffering anywhere concerns men and women everywhere.

-Elie Wiesel in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech, 1986
